When are BSC Decontaminations Required?

Decontamination shall be performed when maintenance work, filter changes, or performance tests require access to any contaminated portion of the BSC
Decontamination shall be performed prior to relocation
Decontamination shall be performed prior to decommissioning, disposal or salvage

Manufacturers Principles of Effective Decontamination:

Complete Distribution - In order for any sterilant to be successful, it must reach all surfaces.

For a true gas such as chlorine dioxide, its small molecular size, approximately 0.124 nm, and a natural ability to fill any space it is injected into evenly and completely offers an unmatched distribution ability.

Total Penetration - In addition to complete distribution, the sterilant must be able to penetrate into all areas.

Chlorine dioxide gas is a selective and highly effective oxidizer making it easy to penetrate surfaces, microscopic cracks and crevices and even through organic matter.

Concentration and Contact Time - Once your sterilizing agent has distributed and penetrated into all areas, it must remain there long enough to provide the desired level of kill.

Chlorine dioxide is a colored gas and its concentration can be accurately measured and monitored in real-time allowing for tight control of important decontamination process parameters.

The Chlorine Gas Advantage:

Chlorine Gas is an EPA registered sterilant. True gases are the only agents effective in hard to reach areas such as HVAC systems, cracks and crevices, and inside equipment due to their small molecular size and mobility. Non-carcinogenic, residue free process and safe on materials such stainless steel, anodized aluminum, painted steel, plastics, epoxy flooring and paints, gasket materials, and electronics. Effective against viruses, bacteria, fungi and spores as well as pinworms and their eggs. Validated against Beta Lactams including Penicillins, Cephalosporins, and Carbapenems.
